Linda and her husband established a
Mustang and neglected horse sanctuary, Horse Crossing
Rescue/Sanctuary, several years ago... beginning with 12 Mustangs that needed
to be relocated from a grazing field within a month. The owner, having seen the care Linda had
been providing the horses, gave them to her.
None of the horses had any training,
and most were still feral and afraid to be touched. Through patience and continuing education
learning to communicate with the Mustangs, eventually some of them were able to
be adopted. Several horses, including
neglected or abused additions that have found their way to the sanctuary, will never
trust enough to leave the safety of the grazing pastures of Linda’s sanctuary.
The expenses… feed, fencing,
medical, etc… are great, and Linda discussed forming Mystic Mustangs
Publishing, LLC with Candace Rice to help not only her sanctuary, but other
providers dedicated to small sanctuaries. A portion of the Publisher’s proceeds is set aside for these non-profit
organizations.
Mystic Mustangs is a series delving
into the intriguing world of shape-shifters, while informing the reader of
truths surrounding the capture and treatment of Mustangs.
